Drift Reservoir
Drift reservoir was approved in 1938 but deferred due to the Second World War and not completed until 1961. It has a capacity of 1.2 billion litres and the shallow areas of water and exposed mud provide a good habitat for wading birds. It is also stocked with trout for fishing, managed by the Southwest Lakes Trust.
Beneath the reservoir are the settlements in Trewidden Vean, now sometimes known as "the lost valley". During droughts, the remains of houses and roads are sometimes uncovered.
